The Delhi Government will on Tuesday confer freehold ownership rights to people living in 45 resettlement colonies in the Capital. The ownership rights will be conferred by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at a function to be held in East Delhi.
“He would hand over the papers to the residents of resettlement colonies, including Sultanpuri and other resettlement colonies situated in East Delhi. The Government has opened a residential school exclusively for the weaker sections such as SC/OBC and orphans to provide quality education for free. The Government is committed to ensure advancement of weaker sections and enable them to occupy the highest posts in administrative services and other elite services,” Sheila Dikshit said. The CM expressed these views in a function organised to lay the foundation stone of a community centre at Trilokpuri.
Dikshit further stated that the new community centre would be constructed over an area of 2,140 sq. metre at an estimated cost of `3.75 crore. “The land has been provided by DUSIB and the funds have been released by the Trans Yamuna Development Board. The new community centre would provide relief to residents of Trilokpuri in organising their social functions, including marriage parties at reasonable rates apart from strengthening the bonds of harmony and co-existence,” she added. She also referred to the all-round development taken place in the city.
Member of Parliament, Sandeep Dikshit, praised the city Government for its development work during last 15 years saying they have benefitted all sections of the society, including the poor and vulnerable sections. “It has provided world-class infrastructure, which has raised the image of the city in the world. It has constructed 66 flyovers in the last 10 years and has expanded infrastructure in the fields of transport, education, health apart from regularising large number of colonies,” he said.
