Taking the number of coronavirus cases to 51 in the Gurugram district, four nurses were tested positive for the deadliest disease on Sunday. The nurses are working in Medanta hospital and are residents of Jharsa village. All four patients are in their 20s.

Of the 51 cases, 35 patients have been discharged after recovery. Their tests turned out to be negative and 16 are under medical care. Gurugram has already been declared as a 'red zone' which has 25 containment areas.

Sources claimed that the nurses caught the infection during treatment of COVID-19 patients. They have since been admitted in isolation wards of the hospitals where they are employed. Their family members have been asked to home-quarantine.

"Two nurses are residents of Sector 31 and two of Sector 39. Sector 31 is near Jharsa village, where three corona patients were found. The area was already declared a containment zone whereas Sector 31 was declared so on Saturday. These two areas are now totally sealed with barricades and deployment of an additional police force,” said Dr Jaswant Singh Punia, chief medical officer (CMO), Gurugram.

On April 3, two nurses of Medanta hospital were tested positive of Covid-19. They were admitted to an isolation ward in the hospital, said the health authorities, adding that they recovered after the treatment.
