A 47-year-old former CBI record keeper was found dead near DND flyway on Tuesday morning.  According to police, he has been identified as Vinod Verma, a resident of Khedi Bhanauta village in Greater Noida’s Surajpur. He is survived by his wife Sarita and two children Harsh (20) and Kartik (22).

Vinod’s family claims he had been depressed and ruled out any foul play. “Fifteen years ago, Vinod’s brother had died in an accident, two days after landing a cushy job in Kolhapur. Vinod slipped into depression and never snapped out of it. His affliction also cost him his job,” said Prakash Nagar, Vinod’s brother-in-law.

Police claimed Vinod went missing from his residence on Saturday. He was last spotted near Vijay Nagar police station where he had reportedly entered into an argument with a bystander. Moments later, police got a call saying a body had been discovered behind an assistance booth along DND flyway.

“The family is not willing to lodge an FIR and has ruled out personal enmity as the cause of death. But investigation is on and the autopsy report is awaited,” said Shivram Yadav, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
