The Delhi Police, Central Para-Military Forces and elite NSG commandos will stand guard during the mega religious event on Yamuna banks. Sniffer dogs, fire engines and ambulance are on standby to meet any emergency.
According to an estimate of the Delhi Police, lakhs of people are expected to assemble for the three-day festival being organised by the Art of living from March 11 to 13.
Also, traffic is expected to be heavily affected during the course of the event. In fact, heavy traffic was reported on Wednesday as well with a couple of days still to go before the main event.
The Delhi Traffic Police will be facing an uphill task to manage the traffic around the venue, which is going to be a major challenge.
“We will not be closing any roads during the event but one can certainly expect the traffic to be really huge on various stretches around the event venue. Traffic will be very high on Noida link Road and we advise people to avoid this stretch.
If there is significantly high pedestrian movement, we may have to partially close the stretch,” said Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr Muktesh Chander.
Chander said traffic congestion will also be high on NH24 and Ring Road from Bhairon Marg to Ashram Chowk.
“We will issue a detailed traffic advisory for the public on Thursday. We advise them to avoid the said stretches if they can and use metro and buses for their commute for their own convenience,” Chander said.
