Delhi BJP leader Vijay Jolly on Monday presented a basket of the kitchen staple to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as Diwali gift. Jolly, who had unsuccessfully contested against Dikshit in 2008 Assembly elections, said he decided to gift onions after learning that the Chief Minister “had not eaten” the staple for weeks.
“I learnt that Dikshit had not eaten onion for weeks due to its rising price. That is why I decided to gift her a basket of onions as a Diwali gift,” Jolly told media after meeting Dikshit at her residence. Accusing the Delhi Government of doing nothing to contain the price of onion, Jolly said the rates have gone up due to hoarding.
