Reportedly 90 people of Chhainsa area in the city fell ill after consuming adulterated food served at a wedding reception late on Thursday night. They have been admitted to Gold Field Institute of Medical Sciences & Research where many of them are said to be in critical condition.
Before the wedding hosts realised the food served on the occasion was contaminated, nearly a 100 guests invited had partaken of that dinner. Many still complained of abdominal cramps.
The victims were rushed to a hospital nearby by other guests. The district health department has collected samples of the food and drinks served at the party that night and sent it to a laboratory for examination. A complaint against the food caterer has been filed.
