A 35-year-old man was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) for taking two minor boys (aged 16 and 17) to Italy as his sons. They were apprehended in the security hold area on the basis of an input. He was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for travelling on forged documents.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, IGIA, Sanjay Bhatia  told The Pioneer that the accused was taking the minors to Italy for employment purpose on forged papers.

“The accused has been identified as Shiv Prakash, who is a resident of ludhiana in Punjab. Meanwhile, the two minors were apprehended and sent to juvenile home,” the DCP said.

The accused told police that all the documents were arranged by an agent identified as Naveen Garg, who managed the passports and Visa for them and had taken Rs10 lakh for arranging travel documents.

“We have sent a police team to Punjab to nab accused Naveen who had arranged the passports and Visa for the two minors and accused Shiv Prakash,” said the DCP. The original parents of the two minors will also be summoned by the police join investigations, the DCP added.

Interestingly, the accused and the minors were cleared by the immigration after they produced their documents but were intercepted from the Security Hold Area (SHA) on a specific input. They were going to Italy by flight Number TK-717, said the DCP. CISF Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahabir Prasad intercepted the trio and handed them over to the IGI police along with their forged documents for further questioning and investigation.

The accused Shiv Prakash revealed that the two minors were not his sons and since the minors could not get a Visa as separate entities, they had made forged passports and Visa, which showed that they were his sons.

Bhatia said, “A case under Section 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating an dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code  has been registered at IGIA police station”. “We have expanded the score of investigation as we feel that more people are involved in this racket”, the DCP added.
