While assuming charge of his office, Delhi Power and Health Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain, who had also been a Minister in the previous 49-day AAP Government, said that it was his 50th working day and not the first. “I don’t consider it to be my first day in office, it is my 50th day. It is the same date (February 14) on which we had quit so we are here to resume work after a break,” he said.
Jain has been given portfolios of Power, Health, Industries, Gurdwara Management, Irrigation and Flood Control, and Public Works Department. He has already held an emergency review meeting with officials on swine flu and directed them to curb spread of the virus as soon as possible. “Considering the rise in swine flu cases, we held a meeting with the departments concerned and instructed them to start with distributing pamphlets in schools, offices and colleges and inform people of the do’s and don’ts.”
“Swine flu is a self-limiting disease, so the idea is to spread as much as awareness as possible to make people vigilant and alert them about the disease,” Jain said. He also stressed that changes will be carried out in hospitals and the “flaws will be rectified.”
