Govt forms 3-member panel
The Delhi Government on Thursday constituted a three-member committee to suggest fire safety norms for planning and designing of Metro stations and tunnels in the national Capital.
“The committee, comprising Chief Fire Officer Dr GC Misra, DMRC executive director (electrical) AK Singh and DMRC chief architect Papiya Sarkar, will suggest fire safety norms for planning and designing of Metro station and tunnels,” said a senior official of Transport Department. The official also said that committee will submit its report in three months. “At present, no fire safety norms for Metro station and tunnels exist in the country. DMRC, therefore, adopted National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 130) guidelines for planning and designing of Metro station and tunnels. These norms were developed in the United States,” he added.
