The factory is spread over 1,000 yards of land, said a fire department official.

"After getting the call, we immediately informed the local police, who went to the spot to inspect. Meanwhile we sent our fire tenders to the fire spot," said the official.

“Twenty fire tenders were pressed into service initially at the time of the call. The fire spread to the basement and first floor of the building," said a senior fire department official, adding, "When the fire could still not be controlled we had to send 8 more fire tenders to the spot, which finally doused the fire,"

Though police said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, according to senior fire department officials, the fire broke out due to short circuit. "Cooling operations were being carried out after the blaze was controlled. Police are investigating the matter from all angles," said the official.
