FIR against ScoopWhoop co-founder for sexual harassment

The Delhi Police have registered a case of sexual harassment against Suparn Pandey, one of the co-founders of ScoopWhoop in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj North area.

The police said, on Wednesday, as per the allegations levelled by the woman, an ex-employee of ScoopWhoop, she claimed that on several occasions in her two-year tenure, Pandey had touched her inappropriately and even sent her suggestive videos. This incident comes weeks after Arunabh Kumar, founder of TVF was booked by the Mumbai Police on similar charges.

In light of this, Suparn Pandey filed for an anticipatory bail on Wednesday at the Patiala House Court, but was denied the same. The court, however, told the Delhi Police that it will have to give Pandey five days notice before arresting him.

ScoopWhoop published an official statement saying the company 'strongly condemns any kind of harassment at the workplace' and that they take complaints of harassment 'seriously'.

Police sources said that in a  complaint filed at the Vasant Kunj (South) Police Station in March, the woman has alleged that Suparn Pandey touched her inappropriately and even sent her suggestive videos.

As per the allegations levied by the woman, despite repeated complaints given to the co-founders of ScoopWhoop-Sattvik Mishra and Sriparna Tikekar, they allegedly abetted the harassment. The police said that they have registered a case under Sections 354A (sexual harassment) 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) but no arrest has been made yet.
