In the aftermath of the terrorist attack in various parts of the world, especially Paris, the French Capital, Delhi Police and the central security agencies have upped the ante for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Abhinandan Rally being held in historic Ramlila Maidan on Saturday.

The Capital has been placed on a high alert as Republic Day celebrations are also drawing closer and Delhi Police is in no mood to take a risk for the PM’s rally on Saturday. A thick security blanket with all the necessary checks and balances has been put in place for the Prime Minister’s security. In order to keep various terrorist, criminals and bad characters at bay from the rally, Delhi Police has installed face recognition cameras at the entry and exit points. The images of various unwanted elements have been stored and the camera will detect if any unwanted person tries to enter. Sharp shooters are being posted at all the adjoining buildings to keep an eye on any suspicious movements in and around Ramlila Ground. Apart from snipers drawn from the elite National Security Guards (NSG), there will be spotters to monitor the movements of antisocial elements in and around the venue.

Rallyists are expected to start arrive the venue as early as 9 am. Security personnel have been tasked to identify mischief mongers among the crowd. As a precautionary measure, Delhi Police will take over the ground and nobody will be allowed entry except the men and officers from the force and central paramilitary personnel.

Delhi Police has erected four entry and exit points, including two, for the public and one for the VVIPs and the media. Each entry gate has more than 10 door framed metal detectors. The entire area has been placed under CCTV surveillance and drones will also be eyes in the sky. The canine and bomb squads have already sanitised and sealed the area. Drones will also circle the adjoining districts to ensure no untoward incident takes place till the Prime Minister is at the venue. Dispersal of the rallyists has also been taken into account. Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) has been tasked to ensure that those coming to the rally are taken in an orderly fashion to the buses parked at Rajghat and other adjoining areas, informed a police officer.
