Father, cousin kill girl for 'dubious' character

Close on the heels of the arrest of a father-cousin duo for honour killing, Gurgaon police has tied up all loose ends in the mysterious case of a woman found dead inside the tool box of a private school bus. Twenty-three-year-old Shivani aka Priya worked as a helper at a PG dig and lived in a rented place in Gurgaon’s Sector 5. Her father, Sanjay, felt his daughter’s reputation was suspect. Along with his sister and nephew, Chiku, he decided to teach his daughter a lesson and have her mend her ways.

Shivani was beaten up and strangled by her father and cousin. The duo stuffed the body inside the tool box of a school bus. A neighbour of the accused father alerted police to the all night squabbles on the night of the alleged crime.

Investigations by a team of Gurgaon police’s CIA led to the father’s arrest. “After sustained interrogation, he broke down and confessed to the crime. His daughter’s purported illicit relations had driven him from Rajasthan’s Mahendragarh and, on August 21, he along with his nephew decided to put an end to Shivani’s sordid saga once and for all,” said Alok Mittal, Police Commissioner, Gurgaon police.
