In a horrifying incident, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her father in Mahendra Park area. However, the accused was granted bail on Wednesday after the victim changed her statement before the magistrate.
The incident came into light on 13 August when the girl told her mother about the ordeal following which girl's mother lodged a complaint against her husband with Mahendra Park police station.
"We have arrested the accused, who works as a labourer on the same day complaint was lodged, under the relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO)," said a senior police official.
"The victim in her complaint has alleged that when her mother was not present at home, her father used to touch her private parts in an inappropriate manner. This has happened several times in last few months," said a senior police official.
"Victim's mother who works as a fourth class employee in private organisation said that her husband is an alcoholic and she came to know about his wrong doings when her daughter told her following which she approached us," said a police official.
"The accused was released on bail from the court after the victim changed her statement in front of magistrate," said a source.
