A 26-year-old private firm executive in Greater Noida attempted suicide, along with his three kids, by consuming sulpha tablets (also called suicide pills) on Saturday night. Police said all four tried to end their lives due to a financial crisis. They are currently under observation in a nearby hospital and their condition is reportedly critical. No suicide note has been recovered yet.
According to police, Rahul Kumar first poisoned his children — Riya (8), Rinki (6) and Bholu (3) — and later himself. One of the neighbours informed police and the victims, found lying unconscious, were taken to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida. The neighbours claimed Rahul, a resident of Escort Colony of Dadri area, had been depressed for long.
“The family has been notified. Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide but a clearer picture will emerge once their statements are recorded,” said Anurag Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Greater Noida.
