Fake voter list sting claims jobs of 3 Gzb BlOs

The Ghaziabad District Magistrate terminated three Block level Officers (BlOs) who, in a sting operation by a news channel, were shown accepting bribe to add fake voters to the electoral rolls. Besides, FIRs against all three also have been registered under appropriate Sections. “The BlOs Hukum Singh, Ravinder Kasana and Harendra Singh of loni area who were in-charge at booth nos 203, 346 and 371, were terminated from their jobs immediately after a TV channel showed them claiming to add the voters in exchange of bribe,” said District Magistrate SVS Ranga Rao. A First Information Report (FIR) against them has also been lodged in loni police station under Sections 31 and 32 of Representation of Public Act.

Taking a precautionary measure the voters list is being displayed for public view on April 6 where BlOs would read out the list. The public in general is being notified to reach the concerned booth and view the list. They also have been notified to file their objection through Form 7 if fictitious names are found.

The DM clarified that the names published would neither be deleted nor added but the administration would use their complaints for extra precautionary purposes to weed out bogus voters.
