Fake visa gang busted; five held

Published on:

Five people have been arrested by the Delhi Police from East Delhi’s Shakarpur for allegedly duping innocent people by issuing them fake visa to work overseas.

The accused have been identified as Arun Kumar (33), Rahul Tyagi (27), Vinod Kumar (31), Narender Singh (30) and Mohit (30), said a senior police officer of the East district.

A senior police officer said a special drive for the verification of fake companies duping innocent job seekers in foreign countries is being conducted by beat staff.

Based on a tip-off, activities of one such agency M/S Fine Tours and Teavels came into notice and, therefore, further surveillance was mounted.  After enquiry from the Ministry of External Affairs Overseas Employment Division, police found that the company was not registered under Section 10 of Emigration Act 1983.

A team under the supervision of DCP East laid a trap. The police team under ACP Preet Vihar got in touch with two prospective job seekers Deepak Kumar and Saurabh Mishra to whom the above mentioned agency lured and cheated by issuing fake visa certificates on the pretext of providing them jobs in Singapore.

Accordingly, a raid was conducted at the Shakarpur-based office of the company and the five accused were apprehended. Police seized 10 passports, 3 medical reports, 1 visa copy and other incriminating documents from their possession.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to charge a hefty amount against providing visas. In order to avoid getting caught by police, they used to change their office.

Police said a case has been registered at the Shakarpur Police Station under Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 120B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy) and Section 24 of Immigration Act.
