Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Monday wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma and to Facebook and Twitter India heads complaining against some fake accounts being operated on social media platforms which are using his name and photo to incite communal and caste-based tensions. This is the second complaint the Minister has given regarding fake accounts in his name being operated.
“People who are operating these accounts are posting fake pictures and statements in my name and then they spread screenshots of such fake posts through various accounts,” read the letter.
Mishra also mentioned the name of the alleged fake accounts that are causing hurt to his reputation in the letter. “Some of these accounts are @kapilmishraAPP, @JalMantri on twitter and @Unofficial KapilMishra, @KapilMishraG on Facebook,” mentioned Mishra in the letter.
“The way these fake accounts and posts are being promoted and spread, I can tell you that there is a very systematic, professional and organised attempt to incite communal and caste based violence. Some posts are so violent and poisonous that people reading and spreading openly, give threats of attacking me,” Mishra wrote in the letter.
Mishra added he wanted criminal action against the unidentified persons as the accounts run by these persons are causing a threat to communal harmony in an organised and criminal manner.
Earlier in May, Kapil Mishra had written a letter to the Police Commissioner for registering of an FIR for “misuse and slander” allegedly by some members “posting wrong and misleading information” through his “fake” profiles, pages and handles on social media.
“Some members of the BJP IT machinery are indulging in malicious and mischievous slander. This is being done by creating multiple fake profiles, pages and handles. On multiple times, they have created fake pages and posted misleading, wrong and false information while posing as Kapil Mishra,” the Minister alleged in his letter.
