The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Friday claimed to have busted yet another module allegedly involved in the fake EWS certificate admission racket with the arrest of two more persons. Arun Kumar and Hukum Singh, both residents of Mangolpuri, were arrested on Thursday. It is the third module unearthed by the Delhi Police that was allegedly involved in securing admissions of children belonging to well-to-do families in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota on the basis of fake documents. With the latest arrests, number of those who have landed in the police net in this case has climbed to seven.
“One Neeraj who was earlier arrested for managing 10 admissions in lancer Convent School, Rohini under EWS quota using fake documents was thoroughly interrogated. On his instance, Arun Kumar was arrested on Thursday and a computer and a printer used for preparing fake EWS certificates and residence proof were seized,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
During examination of some parents, names of Ratan and Hukum Singh had surfaced as the persons involved in securing such admissions. Hukum had secured two admissions in Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura. “On interrogating Hukum and confronting him with Ratan and Rajeev Aggarwal, it was revealed that he used to get the certificates/documents from SDM office Kanjhawla on commission basis. later on, he got in touch with Bhupender, who provided him certificates without going to the SDM office,” he added.
Once, when Hukum had gone to Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura for admission of his neighbour’s daughter, he came to know that many parents wanted their children admitted to the school “at any cost” and knew that Bhupender could prepare fake documents. According to police, he started wandering outside the school in search of prospective clients when he met Ratan and told him that he had contacts with school administration and could get his son admitted for free, if Ratan gets three-four parents, who will pay a hefty sum for admission. Ratan introduced him to his friend Rajeev Aggarwal and Varun Aggarwal who were seeking admission of their wards in the school.
The deal was finalised at Rs 3 lakh for two admissions. Hukum filled up the forms under EWS category following which names of their children figured in the admission list. On discovering that the admission was wrongly done, Ratan, Rajeev and Varun demanded their money back but Hukum assured that he will get the admission changed to general category after a year and asked them to get admissions on the basis of documents provided by him.
On June 16, the Crime Branch had claimed a breakthrough in the investigation into allegations of irregularities in admissions on the seats meant for poor with the arrest of four persons.
