A couple on Friday afternoon hanged themselves to death by a ceiling fan over alleged an extramarital affair in Chauda village, Sector 22. The woman first hanged herself from the ceiling fan. When her husband came to know about it, he too committed suicide by hanging.
Police have found a suicide note written by the man alleging his wife had an extra-marital affair which led to frequent quarrels. The deceased Vivek (27) and lata (25) are survived by their two children Dinny (5) and Kunal (4).
Police said that Vivek worked in a private company in Sector 58 while his wife worked in Sector 59. Vivek had suspected that his wife had an extra-marital affair with a colleague at her office. The couple used to quarrel frequently over the issue. They lived with their daughter in Sector 22 while Kunal lived with his grandparents in Ghaziabad.
Police said on Friday afternoon the couple had again fought with each other. later Vivek left the room leaving lata with Dinny. “The woman hanged herself from the ceiling fan. Dinny informed her father about the incident,” said a police official.
Police said Vivek then pulled down lata’s body from the ceiling fan and put it on the bed. He then consoled the child and made her sleep.
“He then hanged himself from the same ceiling fan,” said police.
When the girl woke up, she found the body of her mother. She also found her father hanging from the ceiling fan. The girl started screaming upon which neighbours rushed to the spot. The police control room was informed upon which a police team reached at the spot.
