Exit poll based on post-poll survey on all 13 MCD seats indicate a neck-to-neck fight between debutant AAP and BJP. The survey conducted by a private news channel has given 4-6 seats each to the AAP and the BJP while 1-3 seats to the Congress. It also suggested 0-2 seats for others.
According to the survey, the AAP is likely to get 31.35 per cent votes and the BJP is expected to get 38.81 per cent vote share. This will come as a boost to the BJP after its mauling by the AAP in 2015 Assembly polls. The Congress, which had faced series of debacle in the MCD polls earlier, is likely to regain its base with 23.56 per cent vote and others are expected to get 11.28 per cent vote.
Reacting after polls, AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said, “I could not understand so far, why BJP and Congress make such tall claims before results despite knowing that they are nowhere in the electoral battle.” He claimed that the AAP is going to win all the 13 wards. “Congress is not in the fight while people are fed-up with the corruption of the BJP-ruled MCDs,” added the spokesperson.
“As people of the city are disappointed with the AAP’s performance, they are all set to teach them lesson. With people’s support BJP win score best,” said Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken said the results of these bypolls would provide a big surprise as the Congress would be making huge gains.
