The Delhi Police has filed the chargesheet against former MlA Rambeer Shokeen alias Mama and his aide Vishal Gehlot, accusing them of carrying illegal arms and ammunition without licence.
The chargesheet was filed by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police in a trial court in Delhi under sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, a senior police official said. Shokeen, who was also wanted in a MCOCA case, was arrested on November 26 last year. He was carrying a reward of one lakh and was on the top ten wanted criminals list of the Delhi Police.
“Shokeen (37), an associate of gangster Neeraj Bawana, was arrested at Karala Majari area in Outer Delhi’s Rama Vihar. Police had recovered a made in USA 9MM automatic pistol from him containing two live rounds of 9mm bullets. An associate, identified as Vijay Kalu, who was with Shokeen when police team went to apprehend him, had aimed his pistol towards the police party and absconded thereafter,” the chargesheet stated. Vijay Kalu has not been arrested yet.
Meanwhile during the custodial interrogation of Shokeen, he disclosed the name of another aide Vishal Gehlot (29) who was also involved in criminal activities. A police team had arrested Gehlot on December 25 last year near Najafgarh-Uttam Nagar road. A .32 bore pistol and three live cartdridges of 7.65mm were recovered from his possession.
On the day, Shokeen was arrested, he was travelling in a white fortuner car which was in the name of a Pramod Kumar, uncle of a Sandeep Dhaka.
Police are investigating the source of illegal Arms and Ammunition as the person behind supplying the arms have yet not been arrested.
Shokeen and nine others, including Bawana, were chargesheeted in the Special MCOCA court last year, with the prosecution accusing them of running an organised crime syndicate and being involved in several “heinous crimes on a continuous basis” in Delhi-NCR.
The chargesheet filed had termed Bawana “as symbol of lawlessness” and Shokeen has been described as the “political face” of the syndicate. The chargesheet alleges that Bawana was the “kingpin” of the group who was involved in a series of crimes while Shokeen has been accused of “using the clout” of Bawana and other criminals to contest MlA election to “further his political
ambitions and gaining pecuniary benefits.”
