EOW busts CISF recruitment racket

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has arrested three for running a fake Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) recruitment racket. The trio used fake CISF uniforms and wireless sets, and had created a fake recruitment website too.

"Jaswant Singh (42), Baljeet Singh (59) and Parvinder Singh (36) would travel in trains and target unemployed youths. Results were uploaded on the fake website and 'appointment' letters were also issued. They took between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh from each person and have so far duped people of approximately Rs 50 lakh," said Sandeep Goel, Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW). He said cases have also been registered in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The Cyber Cell received a complaint by Shiv Kumari, a national-level boxer from Chandigarh. She said she was induced to pay Rs 1 lakh in Delhi on the false promise of a direct recruitment in CISF against sports quota.

Her result was also uploaded on the fake website 'www.cisfrecruitment.in'. She was issued a fake appointment letter and was asked to join the CISF National Training Centre in Hyderabad. When she reached Hyderabad, she was told that her appointment letter was a sham.

Shiv Kumari then approached CISF Headquarters in Delhi, who referred her to the EOW. Shiv Kumari had paid the accused at the New Delhi Railway Station waiting room. CCTV footage was obtained and analysed. The three accused could be clearly seen with wireless sets in their hands and one walking with the help of a stick. A follow-up on registration details of the Gypsy car they travelled in and mobile phones used in the crime revealed the identities.

Investigations revealed that they had duped at least six victims this year and 11 in 2012. Apart from this, 23 victims' applications were under process after a token advance.
