Delhi Water Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday took stock of the arrangements made for the ongoing monsoon season in Delhi and directed officials of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to ensure that there is no issue related to water-logging in the city.

The Minister also instructed the officials to ensure that the sewer lines should not create any hassle for the people living around. “It is the duty of the DJB officials to address and clear every issue related to water-logging and sewer blockage in different parts of Delhi. In case any blockage arises due to excessive rains in Delhi, then water pumps should be used to extract excess rainwater creating a clog in a particular region,” he said.

Jain further asked the officials to ensure distribution of water through the tankers and also gave a number of directions regarding the same. He also directed them to ensure that the GPS tracking systems present in the tankers get activated immediately.

“The DJB officials should closely monitor and track the movement of the tankers to prevent any kind of water theft”, Jain added.

Moreover, the minister also reviewed the progress of the ongoing projects related to water distribution and management in Delhi and instructed the DJB officials to robustly put all the information related to the same on the official website of DJB which will enable the people to know and keep a track of the timeline of the projects and the current stage of the development process.

Meanwhile, DJB Vice-Chairman Raghav Chadha visited the Wazirabad barrage on Friday to examine the water level situation of the Yamuna riverbed. The water treatment plants of Delhi were operating at a reduced capacity as Haryana had earlier withheld Delhi’s share of water and after the discharge of the same the levels had risen back to optimum levels.

The water level at Wazirabad was noted to be 674.5 feet and Chadha remarked that the increased water levels could restore clean water drinking supply of Delhi, easing off the citizens of the city.
