English (Honours) may not be the first choice among the students but they are taking this course as a backup plan for the upcoming academic session. Talking to The Pioneer, applicants shared their desired options on Wednesday. This year round, courses such as Economic (Hon), Commerce (Hon), Physics (Hon), Maths (Hon), BA (Hon) Psychology and Journalism are the most sought-after.
According to the admission experts in Delhi University (DU), there is more possibility for the science students to get admissions in the course for which they have applied. “I have applied for Physics(Hon), Maths(Hon) and English(Hon). If in case, I cannot get admission in Physics (Hon) or in Maths (Hon), I will take English (Hon) as I have scored above 95 per cent in all subjects,” said Isha Gupta, who came to SGTB Khalsa College to submit her application form.
Science students favour mathematics and physics as the subjects accounted for in the ‘Best-Four Policy’ and that will open the door for students to take admissions in either B.Sc (Computer Science) or Mathematics (Hon). “Along with the main subjects — biology, zoology and chemistry — science students study mathematics and English too. So if applicant is also opting for Maths (Hon), Computer Science (Hon) or English (Hon) apart from the main courses, his/her chances to get admission are more, provided they have scored well in each subject,” said Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Dy Dean Student Welfare, DU.
