A 27-year-old woman alleged that a 57-year-old Senior Section Engineer posted at the Tughlakabad Railway station attempted to rape her. Police said on Monday that they have received a complaint from the woman.

Sources said it is not the first time that a complaint has been filed against the 57-year-old Senior Section Engineer. In the past as well, whereever the Senior Section Engineer has been posted in the Delhi Division of the Indian Railways, cases of harassment, eve-teasing and vigilance have been reported to his seniors by the sub-ordinate officials.

According to the complaint filed by the woman at the Pul Prahladpur police station in the South-east Delhi, for the past few days, DC Gautam has been allegedly trying to sexually assault her. The woman in her complaint stated that for the past few days, he has trying to corner her and on past several occasions, he has allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately. However, on Monday morning, he allegedly crossed all limits.

Sources said on Monday morning, when the woman, a sub-ordinate to Gautam, went to have a glass of water, Gautam allegedly followed her and tried to rape her. Alarmed, she allegedly took the glass which she was holding in her hand and flung it at him. Hearing the commotion caused by the shattering of glass, other employees gathered in the room and started beating Gautam, sources said.

Confirming the incident, Romil Baaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-east) said, "We have received complaints from both the sides at the Pul Prahladpur police station. While one group has alleged attempt to rape, the other side has alleged thrashing a public servant. We are examining the complaints filed by both the sides in the matter. Probe is on. After due investigation, appropriate action will be taken against the wrong-doer.
