The incident came to the fore when Singh was informed about the incident by his neighbours. Following which he reached the Tilak Nagar police station and informed the cops. An FIR relating to theft against unidentified people was filed.
"The incident has been caught on two CCTV cameras installed in my shop. I have handed over the footage to police,” said Singh, adding that nobody has been arrested yet. Describing his ordeal, Gagan said, "I have even given IMEI numbers of all stolen mobile phone."
Singh told The Pioneer the number of persons involved in the crime is uncertain as our CCTV footage showed three people stealing items. “It appears that they fled on a car that parked there.”
According to police officials though the pictures and the video footage submitted by Singh's family were not enough to identify the accused as they seem to be blurred and the number of cars was not traced through the footage.
"We are not able to find the identity of the accused through CCTV footage as it is blurred and till the time any mobile phone is switched-on, we are unable to track them," said a police official. Investigation is underway, said a police official.
