ElBOW GREASE FOR GEARS OF JUSTICE

Four days after the brutal murder of former INlD MlA Bharat Singh, his elder brother and councillor from Najafgarh petitioned Delhi Police top brass for providing security to him and his family. Krishan Pehalwan met Special Commissioner of Police (law & Order) Deepak Mishra and enquired after the progress of investigation into his brother’s murder. Bharat Singh, alias Bharte was gunned down by hired assassins on Sunday when he had come to attend a ceremonial function at a banquet hall located 5 km from his house in Najafgarh.

Born-again neta Krishan Pehalwan (45) is the eldest of four brothers. Sources said after the attack on Bharte, Pehalwan and his family fear reprisal. He is facing several cases, including murder and extortion. He is a councillor from Najafgarh ward 138 while his wife is the councillor from Dhichaon Kalan ward 139.  A personal security officer (PSO) was given to Bharte soon after an attempt on his life in 2012. Sources said Pehalwan too demanded security for him and his family.

Meanwhile the family has personal bodyguards as well due to a long-drawn-out feud with several gangs in Najafgarh. After the sensational killing of Bharte, Pehalwan’s residence has turned into an impregnable fortress with the deployment of paramilitary force and Delhi Police.  Police suspect the hand of Udaiveer, alias Kale in Bharte’s murder. Sources said after being arrested in 2012, Kale had threatened to eliminate Pehalwan and his family. He is currently out on parole.

Meanwhile the SUV, which was used by the hitmen, has been carted to Delhi on Thursday. It was recovered from Kharkhoda village in Sonepat (Haryana). Kale had wanted to avenge his father’s murder. Police teams are conducting raids at several places in neighbouring Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh and on the lookout for the two Toyota Fortuners used by Vikas langarpuriya, whose role is also suspected in the former MlA’s slaying.
