Eight men thrash eatery owner in Sarojini Nagar

A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten up and his eatery was broken by a group of eight men, after a heated argument over the food served to them, at south Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar area.

The eatery owner, identified as Kuldeep Singh, was rushed to AIIMS trauma centre and his condition is now reported to be stable. The police have identified few of the accused persons and manhunt has been launched. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Safdarjung Enclave police station, said a senior official.

According to the police, the incident was reported around 10.30 pm on Saturday when eight men had come to the eatery for dinner. Once the order arrived, they complained that they had asked for one variety of dal, but they were served another. However, Singh refused to accept that, leading to a heated argument between him and the group.

During the argument, a few men in the group left the place, but some of them who were left there — still arguing with Singh — called up their friends. Within minutes, few more men joined and allegedly started thrashing Singh. Once Singh collapsed, they broke down his eatery and left. Other vendors in the area later called up the police, after which he was rushed to the hospital and investigation was taken up, police added.
