East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) on Monday claimed to have organised 75 property tax collection camps in the various wards falling under the corporation till July 25 in the current financial year.
The Assessment and Collection (A&C) department of the corporation will organise these camps on Saturday and Sunday also, the corporation said in a statement.
Additional Commissioner Dr Brajesh Singh said that property tax is being collected through online mode and to facilitate tax players, the department has produced a short tutorial video to educate them about the functionalities of the property tax portal.
“The link of video has been sent to 25 lakh mobile numbers through SMSs. The Area inspectors are assigned to contact the residents’ welfare associations to motivate the tax payer to come forward for depositing the property tax.
Dr Singh further said that a mobile application has also been launched for payment of property tax. “A number of Common Service Centres (CSCs) have been operationalized for the convenience of the general public to avail various municipal services including the payment of property tax,” he said.
