In order to control air pollution, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has deployed four mechanical road sweeping machines to clear the dust from roads. The collected dust will be dumped at 'Construction and Demolition Plant' near Shastri Park, which will further convert it into material used in building construction, a EDMC official said.
The official said that all the sweeping will be done at nights. “These machines sweep the roads at an average speed of six to eight km per hour,” he said.
He further informed that the machines continue sprinkle water while cleaning the roads.
The corporation is also planning to install cameras in these machines to monitor the work and the condition of roads, the official said.
