EC urges V-C to hold meeting on sexual harassment cases

The Executive Council (EC) members of Delhi University (DU) have written to Vice-Chancellor Yogesh K Tyagi asking him to convene EC meeting at the earliest so that action could be taken in sexual harassment cases in which Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) had already submitted its report.

“The university is constantly failing in its duty to complete the inquiry and take action in sexual harassment cases .The inquiry in such cases must be completed and report its finding to EC within 90 days for suitable action,” said AK Bhagi, elected teacher representative to EC.

He said the delay has resulted into much unrest and resentment in university community especially among women.

“It has also been noted that in case of serious complaints against administrators, they are being allowed to continue on their administrative positions. Their continuation in administrative positions has given them a chance to influence witnesses and also to victimize the complainants,” said Bhagi.
