The massive sporting complex planned for Trilokpuri area has inched closer to reality with the Standing Committee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation approving the idea. The complex would give a considerable impetus for East Delhi residents to take to sports.
The Standing Committee on Thursday approved the proposal for constructing the facility which would be spread out over an area of 19,000 square metres and cost around Rs 19 crore.
The Pioneer had reported in February that the civic body planned to construct complex for various indoor and outdoor games.
The sports complex will have separate courts for badminton, basketball and tennis with a swimming pool and multi-purpose hall for gymnasium, wrestling, skating, boxing and other indoor games.
The football ground will have an athletic track on its periphery and the complex would have adequate parking. It will come up in Block No 8 in Trilokpuri.
The drawing of the complex -- prepared by the Department of Architecture - has been duly approved.
