Early spadework is what's made Rohini shovel-ready, says BJP's Vijender Gupta

Published on:

Terming his “emotional connectivity” and groundwork that he has done in Rohini Assembly constituency as his USP for upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, BJP candidate Vijender Gupta attacked AAP and Congress. Gupta claimed that both parties are contesting for second and third position as they have no track record in Rohini due to their “callous attitude” towards this seat.

Rohini area councillor in 1997 and Zonal Chairman of Rohini zone in 2001, Gupta said, “I am quite confident of winning the Rohini seat because I am connected to this area at the ground level. I have worked for Rohini seat for the last 20 years since the time I was a councillor. Not only have I rehabilitated slums having a population of about 25,000 people, as a representative I have also come up with parks, schools, panchkarma hospital and 10 community halls to make this constituency a better place to live in.”

lashing out at AAP and Congress, he said, “They don’t have an emotional connect with this seat and zero track record. So they don’t stand a chance to win Rohini seat.”

Confident of BJP’s victory in Delhi Assembly polls, Gupta said the party would get a landslide victory in the upcoming elections. “Kiran Bedi is a good leader. She has a long administrative background and people can relate to her goodness. On the other hand, Arvind Kejriwal has also been a Government officer but left it midway just like he left the CM’s post. He has had a history of giving up his duties. This assures that BJP is the winner this time,” he added.

Responding to Congress candidate Sharmistha Mukherjee’s jibe at BJP projecting Kiran Bedi due to dearth of candidates in the party, he said, “We have a long list of leaders, including seven lok Sabha members and more than a dozen senior leaders in Delhi. It is totally wrong that there is a dearth of candidates in our party. Kiran Bedi was not a part of BJP since long but she was always linked to the party. Even in 2014 lok Sabha polls she staunchly supported BJP.”

Referring to Kejriwal he said, “If someone having no political background can become the Chief Minister of Delhi, then Kiran Bedi is a known bureaucrat. Nobody knew Kejriwal two years before he came into limelight through Anna Hazare movement whereas people have known Kiran Bedi as a successful IPS officer.”

Gupta said that there is clear Modi wave in the city and added that Kiran Bedi’s presence has added to the enthusiasm. “Women and youth are with Kiran Bedi,” he said. He rubbished claims of factionalism in the party and said that BJP is united and working hard as one to win the elections.

Attacking AAP over its 49-day Government period, he said, “AAP is unfaithful and unpredictable. This party has only questions to ask and no answers to give. They believe in anarchy. All they can do is to emotionally blackmail people and they use it as their tool at best. Kejriwal has no attachment with Delhi. The main culprit behind the Delhi Assembly polls 2015 is him. If he had not resigned as Delhi CM, things would have carried on. This shows AAP’s non-serious attitude.”
