Devansh Mehta, a former Philosophy student of St Stephen’s and the editor of e-zine, has raised concerns about the security of the thesis submitted by a woman researcher, who allegedly faced the sexual assault a month back by a professor in St Stephen’s College. He has alleged that college authority is not taking the required action against Satish Kumar (researcher’s supervisor) and is trying to save him.
“Who is going to safeguard her compounds and research thesisIJ On Thursday evening, when we both went to the chemistry lab, we observed that research compounds (the chemical component for research and experiment purpose) were missing from the lab,” Mehta said during a Press conference in Women Press Club on Friday.
Clarifying about the Thursday’s incident, Mehta said that college authority has falsely alleged woman researcher of causing physical damage to the instrument in the chemistry lab.
Coming out in support of the students, Ashish Joshi, alumni of St Stephen’s College, called it is a “very shameful act” and urged the UGC to come forward and recreate the committee that will look at the matter with a fresh approach.
Mehta, who will fly to America on July 27, has further alleged that Valson Thampu (Principal, St Stephen’s College) is not issuing him a character certificate while he has been selected for his Masters in Columbia University.
