In order to regularise e-rickshaws, Noida Authority is preparing a draft policy in sync with the national Capital. The policy will have provision for registration of e-rickshaws and issuing identity cards to e-rickshaw drivers for plying in the city and its peripheral areas.
The announcement to this effect is likely to be made in board meeting next week. According to a senior official, they have been planning to authorise a local body for registering the e-rickshaw, rickshaw and pedallers in the city. Presently more than 2,500 e-rickshaws are operating on various routes and their fleet is augmented by a 100 per month. The three-wheelers mainly ply from Metro stations and the busiest markets. Numbers of cycle rickshaws are also more than 5,000.
