E-challan on cards for Noida

Published on:

The district traffic police of Noida are going to launch a mobile-based electronic challan (e-challan) system next week, said officials on Friday. The app will help issuance of challans and recovery of the penalty after any violator is caught breaking traffic rules in Noida and Greater Noida.

The enforcement will also be easy as the app will provide a quick processing of traffic challan. The payment of penalty will be more convenient for the public and the violators can now pay fine using credit cards or in cash.

“The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is providing details of all registered vehicles on it server and the cops will easily get details and records of earlier violations on the app. It will also help suspend the licenses after getting details of repeated violation. The cop will also get a list of details of different rules and amount of penalty to be slapped in case of a particular violation,” Noida Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Prabal Pratap Singh said.

“Suppose, a vehicle owner does not carry cash or debit card then a printed copy of the challan will be issued and he can pay it later at traffic department or concerned court,” he explained.

The app will be launched by Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida Dharmender Singh next week on trial basis. SSP Noida took a training program with the traffic police on this project.

Abhishek Singh, Superintendent of police, Traffic directorate, joined the training programme in Noida from lucknow. He advised the traffic police personnel to keep smart phones along with internet access in mobile phones to implement it.

SP Traffic Prabal Pratap Singh said the application has been developed by the NIC to provide mobile based e-challan service across the country. It was launched for transport officers but the traffic police have also approached NIC for a security certificate to assess it.

“We are going to download the mobile application after registering it for the Noida traffic police. Around 34 Noida traffic police will be deployed at different intersections in Noida and they will intercept people violating traffic rules.

“The traffic cops will register the vehicles’ registration number, driving license and personal details of the driver on the app and will issue their challan on the spot. We will add 97 more traffic policemen with the plan within two months as they are approved by State Government,” the SP traffic said.
