The Centre on Monday announced a number of projects - including a football stadium, a cycle-sharing project, 13 community halls and a cultural centre — for Dwarka, a sub-city of the national Capital.

Meanwhile, taking cognizance of the issue of water scarcity in the area, the Central Government has assured that the matter would be resolved soon with “long-term” solutions.

“We are going to implement cycle-sharing project in Dwarka,” said Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. The Minister also promoted cycling as a healthier mode of transportation and the Centre has especially worked out this project keeping in mind a congested city like Delhi.

“With the implementation of cycle-sharing project anybody can just take a cycle to their specified destination and leave it at a particular stand on return. We will also construct cycling tracks in Dwarka,” said the Union Minister.

Besides, the Central Government has also plans to construct a football stadium and several community halls in Dwarka. “We plan to construct 13 community halls and a football stadium in the sub-city. Besides, a cultural centre like Habitat Centre is also on the cards here,” he added.

Adding that Narendra Modi-led Government had brought the inflation rate under control, Naidu said that “The prices of petrol and diesel increased every month for the past ten years during the UPA dispensation. But, the prices of petrol and diesel have been rather stable since the Modi Government took charge. The inflation rate has also started coming down. The Government also wishes to provide every citizen or family a house by 2022 and our Ministry is working hard to achieve this goal,” he added.
