The Open Day session at the North Campus of the Delhi University (DU) was flooded with students and parents on the second day. The admission rush was unprecedented on Tuesday even when the varsity has a complete online registration process.

Deputy Dean of DU, Gurpreet Singh Tuteja explained the eligibility criteria to the students and gave out important information including the schedule of admission. He also informed them about the cut off dates, campus hostels and documents required for admission process.

Tuteja said, those female candidates who want to enroll in the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) can be assured that “it is a well established board now.”  “NCWEB is a very unique system with lectures only on weekends, which leaves the students to do what they want to on the weekdays. Also, through NCWEB female students are enabled to take some of the examinations of the University, with some special classes,” he added.

A list of courses, displayed on a screen, were the ones requiring an entrance examination. They include Bachelor of Management Studies, Bachelor of Business administration (Financial Investment Analysis), BA (Hons) Business Economics, BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences, Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Tuteja also spoke about the reservation system that the university follows and explained the eligibility criteria, while providing details of documents that would be required during admission through quotas.

At the end of the orientation session, question and answers were answered to clear the doubts of students. Some of the students had questions about the online form which is supposed to be filled for registration. Another question which popped out quite often in the session was, how to calculate the best of four percentage for particular courses. Many students also asked about the worth of the non-listed subjects like Physical Education, all the doubts were thoroughly cleared.
