A 35-year-old food stall owner was stabbed to death merely because he asked two of his customers to pay the bill of Rs 250 to him. The shocking incident took place in South-East Delhi’s Okhla Mandi area late on Monday night after the stall owner identified as Yusuf asked his customers to pay.
The accused duo resented him for asking them to pick up the tab and stabbed the hapless vendor with a knife and a cast iron grill used to cook kebab. A case of murder and attempt to murder has been registered at Amar Colony police station but no arrest has been made in this regard. According to the police, the incident took place around 11 pm on Monday night when the accused men reached the stall for dinner. While eating, the accused men asked for extra chapatis due to which the bill amount increased. “The total bill amount came to Rs 250 and the accused refused to pay. Yusuf’s younger brother Nawab also intervened in the matter and was abused by the accused men,” said a police official. This resulted in a scuffle and in a fit of rage, the men stabbed Yusuf and Nawab. Yusuf died on the spot whereas Nawab sustained stab injuries and is currently recuperating at the AIIMS Trauma Centre. The police reached the spot soon after the incident and taking an account of the description of the accused from the locals and the eyewitnesses, the accused were nabbed.
