Delhi University will start batch-wise training of teachers on Monday for the eleven Foundation Courses of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) and the first session would be conducted for the courses of Mathematics and English.
The next would be Hindi, for which the first batch is scheduled to begin on May 22. It will be followed by Information Technology, of which the first batch will have to undergo the three-day training session from May 23 to May 25 and the second batch is to be trained from May 27 to May 29.
"We are giving only a three-day training session to each batch, consisting of around 30 teachers. The aim is not to keep it bigger, but effective. The English course has a total of eight batchs as there are many colleges offering English honours," said an official from the university.
The next session would be for teachers of Business, Entrepreneurship and Management courses. The first batch will be trained from May 27 to May 29, and the second from May 30 to June 1.
Out of the eleven courses, the training for four courses will be conducted after six months as they would be studied in second year of the FYUP. These courses include Governance and Citizenship, Psychology, Communication and life Skills; Geographic and Socio-Economic Diversity, and Environment and Public Health.
The orientation of the first batch — of Mathematics course, will be addressed by the Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh himself at the university's Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC). Each batch will have to undergo a three-day session of training at the CIC and Centre for Professional Development in Higher Education.
