A 21-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly raped by a medical student on the pretext of marriage. The victim also working with a NGO had met the accused person identified as Vipin Sharma (24) — a student of Bachelor of Dental Sciences (BDS) at KB Dental College in Mathura two years back on a social networking site.
The two started dating each other, and the boy kept on promising her for marriage and exploited her physically. The girl approached the Nihal Vihar police station and narrated her ordeal and a case of rape under relevant sections of the IPC was registered.
According to a West district official, the victim met the accused on a social networking site and developed a friendship. They then entered into a relationship and met each other several times. Vipin perhaps exploited the victim on the pretext of marriage. “He told me, he would talk to his parents and marry me by April, 2013 but from April this year, he stopped taking my calls and switched off his phone. He blocked me from the Facebook later. I filed an FIR on May 4, 2013 and the police didn’t cooperate. I called the police officials everyday. Finally, they agreed to accompany me to Mathura on May 30 last for Vipin arrest but he fled in front of their eyes and they didn’t take any action. In fact, the policemen had a great time chilling in his
house. They bathed, had food, slept and watched him flee,” the girl alleged.
A senior official of the Delhi Police informed that the matter was being dealt in the court and the FIR was registered immediately after the complaint.
