A Delhi University student has been reportedly raped by her friend at a flat in Ghaziabad. The victim, a resident of South Delhi’s Mehrauli area, registered a complaint with the nearby police station. A zero FIR has been registered and the case will now be transferred to the Ghaziabad Police.
According to police, the victim (25) befriended the accused Anil Sharma (28) a year back. The victim received a random call on her mobile phone and their friendship started; since then they had been in regular touch. The accused was once thrashed by the victim’s brother when he went to her place while she was alone; he was asked to leave and steer clear of the girl.
However, on Saturday evening, Anil called her to Vaishali Metro station. “He took her to his flat in Vijay Nagar area where he allegedly raped her and threatened her of dire consequences. He also sent a text from the victim’s phone to her brother, claiming he had purportedly killed her. The family started searching for her but she later returned home and narrated her ordeal,” said a police officer.
A case of rape has been registered at Mehrauli police station. Since the place of occurrence is in Ghaziabad, the case would be transferred there. Police are now trying to trace him via technical surveillance.
