DU rejected RSS' ideology: Maken

Hailing the victory of the Congress’ student wing National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) candidates on two top posts, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken on Wednesday said that the students of Delhi University have rejected RSS’ student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and its ideology.

A euphoric Maken credited victory of NSUI candidates in high stakes DUSU poll to the Congress and its ideology. The former Union Minister said that the Congress has increased its vote percentage in recent polls. “The party performed well as the vote share has increased from 7 per cent to 25 per cent in the recently held Assembly election for the Bawana seat.  The rising vote percentage shows the growing support for the party,” Maken said.

He further said the NSUI has scored victories in Punjab and Rajasthan Universities as well. “It clearly shows that the youth has accepted the party whole heartily.

Maken also demanded that re-counting for the post of joint-secretary should be held under CCTV camera immediately, or else we will go to court in the matter.

Maken said the victory of the NSUI candidates for the posts of president and vice-president in the DUSU elections shows that the youth who helped Modi to win the lok Sabha elections with a record margin has become disillusioned with him. He also congratulated NSUI candidates Rocky Tusheed (president) and Kunal Sehrawat (vice-president) for their victory in the DUSU elections.

He also said that three candidates of the NSUI had emerged victorious in an unofficial announcement during counting but due to protest by the ABVP re-counting was done without camera for the post of joint-secretary and the ABVP candidate was declared winner with a narrow margin.
