Delhi Government honoured a Delhi University (DU) professor and Head of Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) Anil Kumar Aneja, a professor in the Department of English, with the State Award for ‘Best Individual Working in the field of Social Work’ on Sunday.
The award was presented by Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam for professor Aneja’s contribution in the field despite his visual-impairment.
With serving in DU for the past 32 years, Aneja has been known for filing several Public Interest Litigations which have significantly impacted the educational and employment avenues for the visually-impaired in the country. He was also recently felicitated by Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi at the platinum jubilee celebration of the Blind Relief Association.
