The Delhi University (DU) is all set to hold the end-semester examination of undergraduate courses beginning May 7.

The university has also revised its guidelines to avoid any confusion in the process of setting up of question papers, conducting exams and evaluating answer sheets this year. The university authorities said that steps have been taken to make the examination process smooth for everyone.

“The university has updated the entire administration and faculty involved in the execution of the examination process. The evaluation schedule has been confirmed to start from May 13 and end on June 10. To avoid any confusion on the examination syllabus, a committee for each subject has been formed for setting up question papers. It will later be checked by a moderation committee. The moderation committee had been there earlier as well but this time, the number of members in it has been increased,” said Rup lal, the Dean (examinations), DU.

“like last time, a time-bound re-evaluation option will be there. Students will have fifteen days from the day of result declaration to fill the re-evaluation forms,” lal said adding that results would be declared at the earliest. “We are working in a chain and expect no delay in any process,” he said.

lal further said that the university was taking steps to make alterations and additions to the examination guidelines as new developments were taking place in the DU courses. He said the examination process was a lengthy one and a crucial part of the academics of a student thus it involved more seriousness and needed to function smoothly. “We have learnt from our previous mistakes and we strictly want to keep the process smooth and avoid major errors. People have been assigned their duties till the results and post result formalities are concluded,” he added.

The Dean (examinations) further said that a new three-storeyed building will become the headquarters for all examination-related operations. “It will be opposite to our office and is going to be ready by next year. The building will wholly be dedicated to the Examination Department. Earlier a lot of work was done manually but in future, all data -- from marks to results and other related things, would be managed through computers and a proper system will be established,” he said.
