The Delhi University apart from offering regular courses also provides an opportunity for pursuing an add-on course or a part-time course ranging from languages, IT and communication to web design and sports marketing. Most of them are cost effective and open up new career avenues for interested students.
Delhi University’s Department of Adult, Continuing Education & Extension (Faculty of Social Sciences) offers six short-term courses i.e, Counseling and Guidance, Science & Sports Journalism, Travel & Tourism, Physical Fitness & Sports Medicine, Volunteer Management and Human Rights, which is sponsored by the University Grants Commission. Such courses can add on to the qualifications of a student as well as enhance their personality and skills.
For those who are interested in the field of media and journalism, colleges such as Hansraj and Jesus & Mary offer a myriad of part-time courses such as Theatre Acting & Dramatics, Media Studies, Radio Jockeying, Advertising and Marketing Communications, to name a few. These courses have a duration of 3-6 months and the minimum eligibility criteria is 10+2. Institute of Home Economics also offers a course in Event Management.
The university also provides certificate and diploma courses in various languages ranging from French, Italian, German to even Chinese. Gargi College, Hansraj, Ramjas, St. Stephens, Sri Vekateshwara and CVS to name a few of the colleges which offer such language courses.
A plus point is that the aforementioned courses are also open to those unemployed and sitting idle at home.
“I have done an MA in Sociology and am yet to find a job. Instead of wasting time at home, I enrolled in a 3-month course on Human Rights which I can add to my resume,” said Samiksha Desai.
