DU admissions: Trials in sports quota to begin by end of 3rd week of June

The centralised trials for the sports quota admissions at Delhi University (DU) for academic session 2018-19, are likely to begin by the end of the third week of June. Trials will be held after closure of online undergraduate (UG) registration process on June 7. According to varsity officials, sports trials would last for about 10 to12 days.

Under this category, sports trial carries 60 per cent weightage while 40 per cent weightage is given to sport certificates. This year, sports category applicants are required to upload three best certificates instead of only one.

About 60-65 trials would be conducted for 33  sports categories of games. Trials would be held separately for men and women category under various disciplines.

The online registration process for undergraduate (UG) courses started on 15 May and will last till 7 June.

“After the closure of registration process, sports certificates uploaded by the aspirants would be evaluated for marks. Then these marks would be uploaded on the individual Dashboard provided to the students,” said a DU official.

“The students will then file their grievances and objections if any. These grievances are required to be redressed by the concerned  DU officials . The entire exercise including the grievances redressal is expected to last for  10 days and sports trials would commence after that,” he said.

Also for admissions under the sports quota this year,  candidates who have only participation certificate at state or district level sports event, are not eligible, rather those candidates who have secured some rank/position (either I, II, III) at district or state level sports competition would be eligible to apply under the sports quota.

It may be noted that under sports quota, DU grants admission broadly under four categories -International, National, State and District. While for admissions under international and national category both position/rank and participation are considered for the state and district level only position/rank is considered.
