A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) driver accidentally opened fire at the DTC Headquarters on Thursday morning. The driver has been identified as Sunil (50). The driver was later booked under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for endangering public safety.

East district police officials said that that they were checking whether the weapon used in the incident was a licensed one. They will be writing to the licensing unit for the cancellation of his

arms licence and if it turns out that the weapon was an illegal one, the accused person will also be booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act.

"The incident took place around 11:30am. Sunil had come for some work on the second floor in the administrative department when he unintentionally opened fire. No causalities were reported. He had purchased the licensed revolver from Kanpur and got it to the office in the morning," said a police official.

The incident took place in Room No. 208 at the DTC headquarters. Around four people were present in the room at the time of the incident. The bullet hit a small cupboard in which some files were kept. A loud noise raised panic among the officials and people around and they all rushed to the room.
