DTC bus catches fire in W Delhi

A fire broke out in a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus at West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Monday morning. However, no casualty or major injury has been reported, said police.

The incident was reported when a bus — on route 951 between Kamla Market and Pitampura West Enclave — took a turn at an intersection below a Metro flyover.

Police said the commuters on the last seat of the bus noticed smoke coming from a particular point and raised the alarm. But by the time the vehicle could be vacated, there was an explosion-like sound, suspected to have originated from the engine.

There were around 25 people in the bus, including several women and children. Some of them suffered minor injuries while trying to de-board the bus. They were later arranged a different bus on the same route, said police.
